OSMESO – Ottimizzazione dei Servizi di Manutenzione dei mezzi di movimentazione dei container E dei Servizi Operativi nei terminal marittimi di transshipment.

In the context of transshipment maritime terminals, the operative continuity is a necessary condition to guarantee high-quality services. It depends on the availability of the cargo handling equipment as well as on the availability of the human operators devoted to the loading/discharging operations. With reference to the Gioia Tauro port, the OSMESO research project focuses on the above issues and pursues, therefore, two main targets:

  1. the planning and management of the maintenance activities of the quay cranes (both preventive maintenance and repair) taking into account also replenishment policies of the spare parts having a high capital-value, in order to reduce the operative costs but avoiding degradations in the operational performance of the terminal.
  2. the planning and the management of the outsourced manpower, mainly as far as raiser operators are concerned, to cope with peak workforce demand. Smooth management of the external human resources requires fair assignment of the workload both for individuals and for the outsourcing companies, taking into account that the working shifts are not equally desirable.
