Silvia Rossi is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DIETI), University of Naples Federico II, where she directs the PRISCA Lab (Projects of Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Cognitive Systems). She received her M.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Naples Federico II and her Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Trento. 
As a Research Associate at the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR-CNR), she actively collaborates with the PATH research group. In this framework, her work contributes to the development of computational models and intelligent architectures aimed at fostering adaptability and customization of computing systems within complex, real-world scenarios.
Research Interests
Her research activities lie at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Multi-Agent Systems, and Social Robotics. Specifically, her primary research threads include: 
  • Human-Robot Interaction (HRI): Frameworks for natural, safe, and trustworthy interaction between humans and machines.
  • Socially Assistive Robotics: Development of robotic systems and intelligent ecosystems to support healthcare and Ambient Intelligence.
  • User Profiling & Adaptation: Machine learning algorithms and recommender systems designed to adapt system behavior according to user preferences, habits, and cognitive states. 
Scientific Activities and Projects
She has served as the Scientific Coordinator and Principal Investigator for numerous national and international research projects focused on user-centered robotic assistance. Notably, she coordinates the national project UPA4SAR (User-centred Profiling and Adaptation for Socially Assistive Robotics), carried out in close synergy with the ICAR-CNR research unit. She regularly serves as a program committee member for top-tier international conferences and acts as an Associate Editor for prestigious scientific journals in the fields of AI and robotics (e.g., IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, Pattern Recognition Letters).
