Giovanna Sannino is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networks of the National Research Council (ICAR-CNR). She graduated in Computer Engineering in 2008 and specialized in Telecommunications Engineering (cum laude) in 2011. She obtained a 1st level University Master (cum laude), called “European Master on Critical Networked Systems”, in December 2008 and the title of PhD in “Information Engineering” in 2015. From 2017 to 2021, she was a professor of “Computer Science” at the Department of Economics of the University of Naples Federico II.
Her skills and research interests concern the extraction and analysis of biomechanical and physiological parameters, ML/AI techniques for eHealth applications, interpretability and explainability of AI systems, and the design and validation of ICT solutions for monitoring diseases, especially using wearable devices.
She is currently a member of several national and international working groups, including the IEEE 11073 Personal Health Device Working Group, HL7 Italia, the World Federation on Soft Computing (WFSC), and the Applied Biomedical Signal Processing and Intelligent eHealth Lab at the University of Warwick (UK). She has been involved in various regional and national projects, also with managerial duties, and has organised several international conferences and workshops.
Author of more than 90 scientific articles, of an international patent, and guest editor of numerous international journals, she is currently Executive Editor for the Biomedical Signal Processing and Control Journal (Elsevier, JCR IF 2023: 4.9), Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing (IEEE, JCR IF 2023: 9.6), Associate Editor for Applied Soft Computing Journal (Elsevier, JCR IF 2023: 7.2), and Editor Member of Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence Journal (Elsevier, JCR IF 2023: 7.5).
