The goal of the PRIN project “HERB – Human Explanations of Robotic Behaviour” is to understand how the functioning of robots is theorized and how their behavior is explained. Specifically, the objective of the CNR research unit is to comprehend how typically developing adults explain robot behavior in social interaction scenarios. In particular, it analyzes how the structure and content of HERB depend on the physical and behavioral characteristics of the robot and the user’s perception of it. The results will inform the design of cognitive architectures underlying social robots characterized by explainable and transparent behavior.
