BA2Know has been part of the Network Laboratory of Service Innovation whose objective is to study processes and models for innovating ICT-based services.

Web 2.0 and the social aspects, Cloud Computing and Future Internet, Big Data and Semantic Web (or Web 3.0) represent the fundamentals in the evolution of the service market and ICT-based Business and will pave the way for any future Innovation. Each new Service and Business process will leverage on the Future Internet as the main pathway. Similarly, mobile technologies introduce a new and important dimension in the processes for service innovation, that is the support for user mobility and the seamless access/provisioning of information and service anywhere and anytime. Efficacy of such services is achieved when the mobile technologies are integrated with Internet-based and cloud-based services, that is, infrastructures and platforms that provide resources and services efficiently and on-demand.

Such trends have the effect to influence the business models of Service-based Companies: it’s important to understand such evolutions and define new models and the way to define, develop, provide and access to ICT services, taking into account the increasing involvement of users in the conception, creation and provisioning of data, information and services, up to consider co-creation process of services (Open Innovation).

In this context, the project aimed to develop platform(s) enabling the Knowledge life-cycle Management (KM) and rapid development of complex Business Analytics (BA) by leveraging on components and environments for Intelligent Service Analytics, specialised onto the “Energy”, “Transportation” and “Healthcare” sectors.

The main results of the project have been the development and operation of an online multi-disciplinary and collaborative environment that is highly dynamic, flexible and creative with a strong orientation to advance the state of the art in the context of the ICT-based Services and Systems and in the field of the Open Innovation of Knowledge and Information.

Such environment is a virtual laboratory for Research and Development that performs studies, develops prototypes (as part of selected activities and R&D projects) to enable the innovation discovery.
