The project aims to build a regional database to record all COVID-19 cases on the HealthMeeting platform. Using a regional database will make it possible to carry out a fact-finding survey and trace a mapping of COVID-19 cases in the Campania region. It will make it possible to obtain information on the course of the disease, the method of spread of the virus, and the effectiveness of the containment measures implemented. This approach will also make it possible to evaluate the potential spread of the infection among health professionals and correlate the infection with the type of activity and the volumes of assistance. External quality control of the Real-Time PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 will also be developed to be extended to all accredited regional structures, taking advantage of the expertise developed by the Institute in this specific sector.

Overall, the bio-molecular and clinical characterization of the SARS-CoV-2 infection will allow the development of prevention, diagnosis, and therapy protocols with immediate repercussions on the spread of the epidemic and on the possibility of treating COVID-19 patients.
