Eng. Francesco Gargiulo, Ph.D., is currently working as a Technologist at the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networks (ICAR) of the National Research Council (CNR). He graduated with honors in Telecommunications Engineering in 2006, and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Computer and Automation Engineering in 2009, both from the University of Naples ‘Federico II.’ His research interests fall within the areas of Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Quantum Computing.

He has published numerous papers in international conferences and journals. He has been involved in several regional, national, and European projects. He has participated in program committees of international conferences/workshops and has collaborated as an editor for various journals. He was appointed by the CNR as a Scientific Technical Expert (ETS) for several MISE projects. He is currently listed among the Scientific Technical Experts of the European Commission for the evaluation of related projects and has been involved in the preliminary assessment of some of them.

He is the Manager of the AI Computing Infrastructure called BEN and of the agreement with IBM for the internal use and management of the Quantum Network.
