ICAR-CNR Director Receives The Prestigious “Guido Dorso” Award

Rende, October 10, 2025 – The Director of the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Fabio Martinelli, has been honored with the “Guido Dorso” Award – Research Section at the 46th edition of this prestigious recognition.

The award ceremony took place on October 9 at the Zuccari Hall of Palazzo Giustiniani, at the Senate of the Italian Republic in Rome. The “Guido Dorso” Award, promoted by the association of the same name under the patronage of the Italian Senate, the CNR, and the University of Naples “Federico II”, has, since 1970, celebrated distinguished figures from the institutional, scientific, cultural, and economic fields who contribute to the development of Southern Italy.

Among the laureates of this edition, alongside Fabio Martinelli in the research category, were Giovanni Amoroso (Institutions), Rita Mastrullo (University), Lucio D’Alessandro (Culture), and other prominent representatives from academia and entrepreneurship.

The “Guido Dorso” Award consists of a bronze sculpture created by artist Giuseppe Pirozzi and stands as a tribute to the professional achievements and scientific contributions of those who work with dedication toward the progress and enhancement of Southern Italy.

With this recognition, the ICAR-CNR community proudly celebrates its Director’s commitment to promoting scientific excellence and strengthening the institute’s role within the national and southern Italian research landscape.
