The ABCare project, funded by the ministerial program PRIN2022, proposes a multidisciplinary study to provide objective parameters to be incorporated into routine clinical practice algorithms for evaluating splenectomy and the long-term management of recognized risks for asplenia.
The project aims to identify clinical and biological indicators (genetic and/or biochemical) for patient profiling and stratification, assessment of splenic function, pathogenic processes, responses to specific therapeutic and pharmacological interventions, and the development of risk scores.
The objectives are pursued by managing and integrating clinical, biochemical, and genomic data, integrated into the multicenter database The Italian Network for Asplenia (INA).
