Agnese Augello achieved in 2008 the PhD degree in Computer Science Engineering. From 2008 to 2011 she worked as a research assistant at the University of Palermo. She is currently a staff research scientist at ICAR-CNR and adjunct professor at the University of Palermo.
She was visiting researcher at the Utrecht Research Institute for Information and Computing Sciences, hosted by Professor Frank Dignum (July 2015), where worked on issues concerning social interaction and ethics in Artificial Intelligence.
She is author of several scientific publications in international conferences and journals. She is in the program committee of international conferences and workshops, and editor of the special issue “Robot-Assisted Learning and Education” for “Frontiers on Robotics and AI”.
The main research topic is Social Robotics, with a particular focus on issues regarding the modelling and implementation of cognitive architectures,  conversational modules, methodologies for representation and processing of knowledge at multiple levels of abstraction. Her research activity also deals with the modelling of higher-level capabilities in cognitive agents, such as computational creativity and ethical behaviour.
