Alfonso Urso<\/strong> received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude), and the Ph.D. degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. In 1998, he was with the Department of Computer and Control Engineering, University of Palermo, as a Research Associate. In 2000, he joined the High-Performance Computing and Networking Institute of the Italian National Research Council (ICAR-CNR), where he is currently a Researcher in systems and computer engineering. In 2006, he was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Konstanz, Germany. From 2007 to 2015, he coordinated the research group \u201cIntelligent Data Analysis for Bioinformatics\u201d at the CNR. Since January 2016, he has been Head of the Palermo branch of ICAR-CNR. Since 2001, he has been a Lecturer at the University of Palermo, where he currently teaches Computer Network Security in the Master’s Degree in Computer Science. His research interests focus on machine learning, soft computing, and their applications to bioinformatics. Mario Ciampi<\/strong> is a Senior Technologist at the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking of the National Research Council (CNR-ICAR), where he works on research and technological development in information systems for managing structured and unstructured data. Since 2019, he has led the \u201cSystem Interoperability and Management\u201d group.
\nSince 2009, he has been involved in institutional working groups on the Electronic Health Record. He has held leadership roles in projects co-funded by the European Commission, Italian Ministries, and Regions, focusing on interoperable health information systems, urban data lakes, and cloud platforms for the social sciences.
\nHe is the author of over 100 scientific and technical publications. He is a reviewer for research projects, serves on editorial and program committees of journals and conferences, and has co-supervised several theses.
\nSince 2012, he has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Naples \u201cFederico II\u201d, where he teaches IT Technologies for Health.
\nHe is a member of the Board of HL7 Italy, the UNI Steering Committee on Digitalization, and the UNINFO Medical Informatics Commission. He is also co-founder of the Italian Scientific Society of Biomedical Informatics (SIBIM) and was a board member of AITIM.
