The objective of the SMASH project is to develop an innovative digital, proximity-based healthcare system that integrates IoT technologies, advanced data analytics, and artificial intelligence modules to enhance clinical care and the management of healthcare services. The project aims to create an ICT platform composed of hardware, software, and wearable components capable of detecting physiological parameters, locating patients and healthcare staff within facilities, recording types of medical interventions and specific patient needs, and aggregating these data with information from other sources, including clinical histories. Leveraging data-mining techniques and intelligent algorithms, the infrastructure will provide clinical and administrative decision-support tools, allowing for more efficient evaluation of patient and staff flows, treatment effectiveness, and training processes. Information will be accessible through advanced interfaces—also using augmented reality and usable on the move—enabling professionals to plan and implement context-aware and personalized care strategies.
