In Palermo, The Third International Symposium On Quantum Creativity And Musical Composition, Organized By Dr. Maria Mannone From ICAR-CNR

The third edition of the International Symposium on Quantum Computing and Musical Creativity (ISQCMC ‘25) took place for the first time in Italy, in Palermo, on Tuesday, October 28th and Wednesday, October 29th. Physicists and musicians from nearly twenty countries discussed music, quantum computing, and quantum mechanics through live musical examples, simulations, and algorithms. The first day took place in the Sala Lanza of the Botanical Garden, and the second day in the Sala delle Capriate of Palazzo Steri, two particularly fascinating and historic venues, greatly appreciated and admired by the conference attendees. The event’s main organizer, Dr. Maria Mannone, a theoretical physicist and musician, and a researcher at ICAR-CNR, also designed the logo, a reference to the historic Circolo Matematico di Palermo, revisited with the inclusion of the Triskelion, an ancient symbol of Sicily, at the center of a Bohr atom, whose orbits, in place of electrons, contain musical notes. The extraordinary success of the conference, in the general opinion of all conference attendees, stems from the scientific and artistic stature of the participants, the quality and originality of the individual presentations, and the cordial and collaborative atmosphere.

Chair: Dr Maria Mannone, researcher at ICAR-CNR.
